Pregnancy
Pregnancy is a time of great change for a woman's body. Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT) can help the body better adapt to the changes that are occurring.
For patients suffering from headaches or back pain OMT is a great alternative treatment. Also studies have shown that women who have had as little as one session of OMT prior to delivery had shorter labor and delivery times and there was less meconium staining (baby's first bowel movement) of the amniotic fluid compared to mothers who did not receive OMT before delivery.
Infants & Children
OMT, specifically Cranial treatment, is used in infants for the treatment of colic, reflux, poor suckling, developmental delays as well as abnormal/asymmetric head shape. For children OMT has been proven beneficial in the treatment of Otitis Media in helping prevent frequent ear infections as well as helping the body recover from a current infection.
Scoliosis and sports related injuries are other common conditions that children may have that can be treated successfully with OMT
